Easy, Delicious & Healthy Breakfasts

Food, Lifestyle

I love breakfast, and it’s by far my favourite meal of the day! I would say dessert, but that’s not a meal that I get to have daily 😛 Breakfast, brunch, breakfast food for dinner, you name it – it’s a winner in my books! It’s also so important to me to start my day off with healthy breakfasts. Otherwise it throws my whole day off, and I’m left feeling tired, cranky, and oh-so-hangry. So I’m definitely one of those people who needs her breakfast to feel on top of her game!

With that said, here are my go-to’s for healthy breakfasts, and they’re all so easy and not to mention delicious! Depending on if I’m running out the door, or if I’m sitting down for breakfast, whether it’s hot or cold out, and just what I’m craving – here are my top picks!

Avocado Toast

This is one of my absolute favourite healthy breakfasts! I’ll use a slice from a loaf of fresh bakery bread (either whole wheat or rye), mash the avocado on top, and sprinkle on a pinch of Himalayan salt. If I have some more time, I’ll fry an egg sunny side up, or create this delicious cheese omelette from Jamie Oliver to layer on top of my avocado toast.

Peanut Butter and Banana Toast

A go-to for those busy mornings when I need something to keep me full until lunch. On a nice bread (or I’ll use frozen waffles occasionally too!), slather on that natural peanut or almond butter, thinly slice your bananas on top, and voila! Breakfast is served! The longest part of making this breakfast was toasting your bread!

Greek Yogurt with Raspberries, Chia Seeds, and Granola

This is usually my daily breakfast or afternoon snack in the summertime, when I’m craving a something refreshing. I love Tree Island’s Greek yogurt, since it’s made from the milk of grass-fed, happy cows! I’ll add a cup of raspberries (if they’re frozen just pop them in the microwave for 30-60 seconds), a spoonful or two of chia seeds, and Nature’s Path ancient grains granola on top. You can also add hemp hearts, chopped nuts, flax seed, and any kind of fruit! The possibilities are endless. So it just depends on what you like in your breakfast or snack!

Oatmeal with Bananas & Walnuts

In the dead of winter when all you want is something to warm you up, oatmeal is the perfect breakfast. And for the summer when the weather is already scorching, they invented overnight oats – cold oatmeal! My favourite overnight oats are from Minimalist Baker. For my warm oatmeal, I love making it on the stove, but you can always use the microwave. I use organic oats, lots of almond milk, a dash of vanilla, a spoonful of brown sugar, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Around Christmastime I’ll throw in a bit of coconut milk egg-nog, and in the fall a spoonful of pumpkin puree. It just to give it that extra something! Then I slice bananas and chop up my walnuts (I usually just break them up by hand), and I have a delicious oatmeal breakfast!

Easy, Delicious & Healthy Breakfasts

Hope these ideas for healthy breakfasts give you a great starting point for those crazy-busy mornings! It’s way too easy to brush off breakfast and the suddenly you’re absolutely starving come lunch. Breakfast is so important though – it sets you up for success throughout the day, giving you the energy and brain-power to tackle the tasks at hand!

If you do have bit more time on your hands to bake up a healthy breakfast or snack, check out my blueberry banana walnut muffins. And if you make them beforehand, they’re the perfect grab-and-go breakfast as you’re running out the door!

So tell me, what’s your favourite breakfast? Don’t get me wrong, I love these healthy breakfasts, but I do looove myself some waffles, french toast, eggs benny’s, or classic pancakes 😉
